Project Engineer - Primary Systems Service
Our client, a leader in the energy sector, is looking for a Project Engineer Primary Systems Service for one of their last project: the extension of the Belgian offshore grid: the Princess Elisabeth Island project. With a strong presence in the multidisciplinary projects sector, our client is committed to delivering innovative and sustainable civil works solutions for substations and high-voltage installations.
Alongside other colleagues, you will contribute to the development of a sustainable, green, and reliable energy infrastructure that fosters economic growth and minimizes our ecological footprint.
As a membeer of the team, you will :
- Act as a safety leader, consistently identifying opportunities for safety improvements.
- Ensure the timely delivery, quality, and safety of your assigned tasks.
- Explore design opportunities that can provide additional benefits to the project.
- Provide proactive and regular updates on the status and progress of your responsibilities.
- Independently manage and implement specific work packages.
As Project Engineer for Primary Systems, you will:
- Be part of the “HVDC System & Onshore Substation” package, reporting directly to the Package Manager.
- Collaborate within a multi-disciplinary team of Project Leaders, Engineers, Procurement Officers, HSE Advisors, and PMO Officers.
- Assist the Package Manager in delivering Primary Systems for HVDC substations, including gas-insulated switchgears, converter transformers, and other high-voltage equipment.
In particular, you will:
- Coordinate all technical and engineering tasks within the discipline.
- Lead a team of experts and serve as the single point of contact (SPOC) for Primary Systems.
- Review design, engineering, and project documents in a timely manner.
- Participate in relevant design review workshops and ensure safe, ergonomic design.
- Conduct production inspections and witness factory acceptance tests (FAT).
- Inspect installations on-site and confirm mechanical completion.
- Oversee commissioning activities and provide technical support to construction teams.
- Consult with stakeholders and ensure compliance with laws and technical standards.
- Regularly report on discipline status, including risks and opportunities.
The position requires a full-time commitment, with 5 days per week in the main office. Homeworking is possible for about 2 days each week. The main office is located in Brussels, although site visits will be necessary during project execution.
- You have a Master’s degree in Engineering or equivalent by experience;
- Experience with HVDC projects is a plus;
- You are highly motivated to work in a team and cooperate with others

- You are assertive and good at facilitating consensus;
- You are able to work under pressure
- You are driven by innovative entrepreneurship and not deterred by challenges;

- Fluent in English and French (oral & writing), Dutch is a plus
